Derby Contests are offered on the Fantasy Derby Contest page. There are filters at the top of the page to help you find a Derby you desire by sport.

You can join a Derby up until enrollment closes. When you find the Derby you want to join, simply click on that Derby or the “Join” button and a details page will pop up allowing you to create a team name and start building your team.

Once your team is complete click the “checkout” button to join the Derby and create an account, if applicable, pay the service fee associated with your team, or create additional teams to receive our multi-team discounts.

RotoDerby will save any of your unpaid or incomplete teams until the day the Derby begins. However, you must pay the service fee for your team prior to the start of the Derby for your team to qualify for entry into the Derby contest.

For further information regarding eligibility, please refer to our official Terms and Conditions policy.

The player pool consists a limited numbers of players that fall within the upper and lower stat limits determined by the RotoDerby team.

Example: In Longball Derby, if the upper limit is 53 HRs and the lower limit is 13 HRs, only players who fall in that range based on prior year’s stats will be available for the Derby contests.

Once the player pool, player statistics and player positions are set for a Derby Contest it will not change. If players change teams, become injured, retire, etc., while a Derby is enrolling, it is the user’s responsibility to understand the new status for the professional sports player. No players will be added or removed from the existing player pools, and no statistics or positions will change.

We will do our best to provide updated news, projections, injury reports, etc. however, player’s statuses can change at any time and therefore RotoDerby does not take any responsibility for user decisions made based on the information provided.

To build a team in RotoDerby you simply fill each roster position as designated while staying under the Derby contest cap limit. The cap limit will vary for each new Professional sporting season.

RotoDerby may offer different Contest caps and limits from year to year. Currently we offer only one Cap limit as follows:

Stat Cap

The Stat Cap is the limit or criteria used to build your Derby team. It is similar to a salary cap, except it is based on a scoring Statistic (hence the name Stat Cap) instead of a dollar amount.

The stat cap limit is set by our RotoDerby Staff and is based on “One” scoring stat per sport (i.e. Homeruns is the stat limit for Longball Derby, Touchdowns is the stat cap limit for TD Derby, etc.). See Derby details page of each contest Stat Cap.

Example: If the Stat Cap limit is 220 HRs for a given HR Derby, then the players you select must not exceed the Stat Cap limit of 220 HRs based on the prior season’s statistics.

You can edit your roster as many times as you like up until the Derby enrollment closes. Once the Derby begins, your starting roster is locked for the entire season, requiring a lot less of your time while enabling you to participate in Fantasy sports all year round. This is why we created RotoDerby, so you can get back in the game without all the time or hassles needed to maintain your rosters all season long.

If a player becomes a free agent, gets injured, retires, etc. he still remains on your team. So choose wisely, but remember everyone has to play by these same rules. This is where you can test your skill in player selection on your way to becoming a top Fantasy Sports General Manager.

Once the Derby begins, stats will accumulate on a daily basis on the Live scoreboard and Standings board. The teams with the highest Fantasy Points at the end of each month will win Large prizes, typically top 5 paid out for monthly prizes. (See Derby contests details for various prize pools, payouts and entry fees).

Example: 1st place pays $5000/monthly for our $99 season Derbies.

The teams with the highest cummulative points throughout the entire season will win the season end prizes, typically top 10 paid out for season prizes. (See Derby contests details for various prize pools, payouts and entry fees).

One key difference between conventional fantasy sports and RotoDerby Fantasy sports is that RotoDerby contests provide prizes to winners both at the end of the season as well as every month. So at any given Full season Derby contest you have 5 to 7 opportunities to win prizes all season long (as opposed to just end of season prizes like conventional fantasy sports). See example of payouts below...

Example of Full Season $60K Longball Derby Prize Pool

Derby Contests will consist of Full Season, Half Season and possibly Monthly Derbies. See the details tab on each Derby for the specific start and end dates.

Full Season Derby Contests

For sports season that include partial months, those statistics may be rolled into the prior or upcoming months.

Half Season Derby Contests

Statistics will count for each derby on a monthly basis and be defined as a continuously completed Professional sporting event, which will qualify for the Derby contest on the date in which the Professional sporting event started. Example:

  • A professional baseball game which is suspended in April and completed in September will have their statistics counted towards the prizes in the month of September.
  • A baseball game which was started on April 30th, but completed on May 1st will have their statistics counted towards the prizes in the month of April.

Fantasy point scoring will count for each derby on a monthly basis and be defined as a completed Professional sporting event, which will qualify for the Derby contest on the date in which the Professional sporting event started, unless otherwise stated.

RotoDerby reserves that right to cancel Derby contests at our discretion, without any restrictions. This would typically be done only in cases where the minimum has not been met seventy-two (72) to ninety-six (96) hours prior to the start of the Derby or if there are site problems that would prevent the Derby from proper enrollment resulting in a widespread impact on the integrity of contests. In the event in which a Derby contest is cancelled – all users which have paid the respective Service fee for the Derby contest shall have a full refund processed within 5 to 7 business days.

The RotoDerby staff is constantly monitoring the Site for offensive, or detrimental behaviors to fellow Users of the site. Engaging in these behaviors may result in closure or suspension of some or all functions associated with your account. Suspended players are expected to respect the disciplinary actions imposed on their accounts and all communication regarding restoration of your account should take place via the RotoDerby “Contact Us” link under the Support tab. For a listing of inappropriate behaviors, please see our Terms and Conditions.

While we do our best to ensure that RotoDerby is functioning properly at all times, like any website we may periodically experience periods of outage or slow performance on the site. This can sometimes result in an inability to access the site, problems building teams or entering new Derby contests. If you're unable to access the site, please report the problems by emailing us at: Support@RotoDerby.com

If there are sustained periods where players are unable to access site functionality, or otherwise prevented from creating teams, we may provide instructions on how to cancel your entries via email prior to the start of a Derby Contest.

All TEAMS in a RotoDerby derby must consist of players drawn from a pool of players provided by each RotoDerby derby while staying under the Derby cap (i.e., Statistic cap, Salary cap, etc.) as stated by the rules of each derby. Each User will follow the player selection process and applicable RotoDerby rules to construct their respective team for the Derby.
